What is the change?
Due to ConEd’s lack of providing reliable meter identification on invoices, to date we have not been extracting any meter information from their for their electricity & natural gas invoices. However, after confirming that they have now implemented more reliable meter identification on their invoices, we are updating the extraction process to include meter number.
How did the data look before the fix?
From 2021 to December 2023, rather than including meter numbers that identified an actual point of delivery meter, ConEd invoices instead included “meter numbers” for all demand usages, even those were not specific meters (i.e., separate meter numbers for kWh and kW). As a result, Arcadia, following its domain policy, had not been extracting meter numbers for certain electricity and natural gas bills.
Below is a sample invoice that shows the incorrect meter format:
How will the data look after the fix?
In line with Arcadia data model, now that ConEdison is providing accurate meter numbers, we are proceeding with a refactor to extract meter numbers from ConEdison invoices to enhance accurate data representation.
Below is a sample of the updated invoice reflecting corrected meter numbers:
Why the change?
Post 2024, we believe ConEdison has established more reliable meter identification in their invoices and no longer displays meter numbers for ‘demand-only’ meters. In accordance with Arcadia standards, we are proceeding with this refactor to correctly identify the meter numbers directly from ConEdison invoices.
What is excluded from the change?
Other formats that lack this meter representation.
